WHAT DATA BREACH PROCEDURES WE HAVE IN PLACE
FIGURE OUT WHAT WAS STOLEN
The first step we have is to figure out what is stolen. In any hack, there are different pieces of information that may be taken. One of the most dangerous pieces of information that can be taken in the United States, could be a person’s social security number. The social security number, combined with a person’s full name, could almost allow anyone to not only pose as you, but may be able to buy things or commit fraud in your name. If your social security number, name and/or any other identifying information related to you has been stolen, then make sure you report it to law enforcement as soon as you are aware. In the event, this were to happen, OhioCannabisDistrict would also contact the proper authorities and you as well.

RESET YOUR PASSWORDS
An additional step would be for you to reset your passwords with new and stronger passwords. Even if only one account has been breached, it would still be a good idea to create new passwords for every account you have—especially if you use the same password for multiple accounts. Be sure to change each one of them, as well as each of the passwords different.

Learn more about how to create a secure password.

CONTACT THE CREDIT BUREAUS
It’s essential to contact the credit reporting bureaus. In the United States, you can get any or all of the major credit bureaus (or all of them) to put fraud alerts on your name, and this is at no cost to you.

Then, if someone attempts to steal your financial identity, you would know right away. In the United States you can contact the credit bureaus at the following numbers below:

Equifax 1-888-766-0008
Experian 1-888-397-3742
TransUnion 1-800-680-7289

Banks, money transmitters and other financial institutions are continually working to make sure that they have use cutting edge cyber-security in both banking, and new technologies like bio-metrics and double authentication processes are helping to increase security; though hacks can and still do happen.
